6th National Pizza DOC Championship
In November 2019, during the 6th Pizza DOC World Championship in Nocera Inferiore (Salerno), the young Italian pizzaiolo Francesco Calò was crowned “Best Italian Pizza Maker in the World.”
The event, featuring a “hidden” jury to ensure impartial judgment, hosted over 360 competitors from around the globe. Calò, founder and CEO of Enopizzeria Via Toledo in Vienna, crafts a pizza rooted in Neapolitan tradition while embracing evolution, using top-quality ingredients and a highly hydrated dough for exceptional lightness.
His victory confirms his role as an outstanding ambassador of authentic Neapolitan pizza and Italian culinary culture on the international stage.
